Language, Literacy and Communication - spelling.

We enjoyed thinking about initial letter sounds on this plasma screen activity. We read the letter in the middle of the screen and said the sound that the letter makes. Then we drew a line from the letter to any objects that began with that sound. Some of us have also been practising blending. We have been thinking about the sound 'ai' and the different ways that you can spell it (a_e, ay, ai). We have also been learning the Tricky Words 'be' and 'was'.

We have been making animal masks this week! We chose what animal we wanted to make from lots of different African animals. We then thought about the colours and materials we would need to make it look as 'real' as we could! Some of us coloured in masks too as you can see we even had an elephant making a mask!!!!

LLC - 'We all went on safari'

Skill - To talk about characters and events.
This week we listened to the story 'We all went on safari'. It was a story from Tanzania in Africa. We enjoyed looking at the lovely pictures of the colourful African animals and where they live. We then looked for the same animals in our box of animals and tried to sort them into the same order as we found them in the story. We also retold the story on our storyboard, making sure that we put the pictures of the animals in the right order and retelling the story as we stuck the pictures on. We used the 'easispeak'microphone to re-tell our favourite part of the story - and loved playing back what we had said!!
