Creative Development - Dance

We really enjoyed our dance lesson this week! First of all we warmed up our bodies with the dance 'Where's Mondi?' (Mrs Utting enjoyed this one!) Then we made up movements for all the animals in the story 'Handa's Hen'. We used high, low, slow and fast movements. We finished by listening to the story and performing the movements to music.
Communication skills - listening, speaking, wider communication.
Thinking skills - plan and reflect.

Language, Literacy and Communication - Handa's Hen hunt

We went on a Handa's hen hunt by the school pond. We listened to clues about each animal from the story and then tried to find their picture. At the end of the hunt we put all the animals into the correct order. We had a lovely time!
Communciation skills - listening, speaking.

Welsh Language Development - clothes.

We have been learning the welsh names for lots of the clothes ('dillad') that we wear. We read a story and then matched flashcards to the clothes. Here we are holding the flashcards and the clothes. We did really well - bendigedig!
Communication skills - oracy, reading.

Language, Literacy & Communication - re-telling Handa's Hen

We retold the story of Handa's hen in our talking partners using the easispeak microphone!!
Thinking - reflecting
ICT - creating and presenting
Skill - to make themselves clear by organising what they say

Language, Literacy & Communication - tricky words

This week after we re-read 'Handa's hen' we identified the tricky words that we have been learning throughout the story. Then we had a tricky word flashcard each and when each tricky word appeared on the plasma screen we had to hold it up high! Afterwards we played tricky word lotto to see if we could remember them!

Creative Development - African art attack

We had lots of fun this week creating an African scene using junk and materials! Can you see what we made?
Thinking - planning
Communication - oracy

Creative development - Dance

Using the animals from the story of 'Handa'a hen' as a stimulus, we created movements for each of the animals and then put the movements to music. We 'tuff cammed' our activities too!!
Skill - to develop responses to different stimuli
Thinking - planning
ICT _ creating and presenting

Language, Literacy & Communication - Handa's Hen

After listening to the story of 'Handa'a hen' we chose our favourite animals from the story and chose the correct phrase and copied it carefully using whiteboard pens. As you can see 'six jumpy crickets' was my favourite!!
Thinking - reflecting

Language, Literacy and Communication - Tricky Words

We are continuing to introduce 2 new Tricky Words (words that have irregular spelling patterns and are therefore harder to learn) each week. So far this term we have introduced 'I', 'the', 'he', 'she', 'me', 'we', 'be', 'was', 'to' and 'do'. Our words for this week will be 'are' and 'all'. Please help the children to learn these words by using the Look, Say, Cover, Write and Check method - look at the word, say the word, cover the word, write the word and check the word. Thank you - we appreciate your continuing support.

Mathematical Development - money

We have been thinking about money this week. First we made sure that we knew the value of 1p, 2p, 5p and 10p coins. Then we took a selection of coins and went to the 'shop' in the Garden Room. We looked at the price on the price label and checked that we had enough money to buy the item, then we gave our money to Mrs Utting and put our shopping in our baskets.
Thinking skills - plan and reflect
Communication skills - oracy

Mathematical Development - counting using coins; recognition of coins

We've been really busy this week using coins! We learned to recognise 1p,2p, 5p, 10p and some of us even learned what 20p, 50p and £1 looked like. We were given coins in our hand and had to count them to see how much we had and then go to the shop and see what we could buy with them!
