Mathematical Development - counting forwards and backwards to and from 10

Skill - To count forwards and backwards to and from 10, recognising numbers to 10.

We have been working on our number recognition to 10 and on counting forwards to 10 and back from 10. We threaded beads on to string and then took them back off one at a time, matching the number of beads to a number card as we went. Threading the beads helps to develop our fine manipulative skills and was also great fun!

In pairs, we also chose a card from a pile and counted backwards from that number, if we got it right we took a 1p the first one to collect 3p was the winner!

Then we built towers with cubes to match to number cards. We counted backwards and ordered the numbers from 10 to 1.

We also played maths games on the computer to

help with our number recognition and ordering of numbers.
