RE - Harvest festival

We have been learning all about the christian festival of 'Harvest'. Mrs Abel explained how it is a time when people gather together to thank God for all the wonderful foods he has provided and for the people who grow and harvest our foods. We looked at beautiful photographs of foods that we grow in our country and how farmers cut the crops and send it to places to make things like bread

We learned a new song called 'Plant the little seeds'

And we remembered to take time to say 'Thank you' to God for all the good foods we eat every day!

We have been helping to care for our school pets.

Sadly this week we had to say 'goodbye' to Mrs Miller

and wish her luck in her new job. We will all miss her

very much and look forward to her visiting us soon.

Mathematical Development

A visit to the I.C.T suite to make 2D shape pictures.

Using shape stencils to create pictures.

Colouring in shape characters of the 2D shapes we have been learning about this week.

Number jigsaws to 20.

Making patterns with colours.

Playing with number play dough mats.

Improving our number formation in the shaving foam.

Counting and sequencing.

Counting objects to 10.

Creative Development

We looked carefully in mirrors and drew pictures of ourselves.

We listened to the poem 'Rainbow Dreams' in the quiet room.

We talked about the colours in the poem and thought about how they made us feel.

We used paint and black tissue paper to make a cave like the one in our story

'We're going on a bear hunt'.

Physical Development

Cutting out activities to develop fine motor control.

Developing scissor control and concentration.

In P.E. we took different coloured bean bags on a 'Bear Hunt' around the hall.

We thought about the difference in how our bodies felt when we exercised and rested.

We pretended to be bears and had to move our bodies like the bears in our stories.

After P.E. we practiced putting on our own shoes and socks.

Some off us did it all by ourselves!

We are getting very grown up. Mrs Abel and Mrs Carter were very impressed!
