More Physical Development - hitting and steering

R2 had a fun time during their PE lesson this week brushing up on their bat skills. First we reminded ourselves how to steer, control and stop the ball with a bat. Then we had a go at steering the ball between two cones. We also worked in pairs , hitting a ball to each other through a goal. We finished the lesson off with a relay race. We worked really hard and Mrs Utting was really pleased with our bat skills.

K&U floating and sinking

This week we have been investigating 'floating and sinking'. We started by seeing whether various objects from around our classroom and outside would 'float' or 'sink'. We then made our own sails and chose different objects for ourselves to make boats and sorted them according to whether they would sink or float.

PE steering and hitting between cones

This week we have been practising our steering skills with a ball in the yard. We had to use good control to keep the ball near our bat and then hit the ball between two cones (goal). We are getting really good at this skill now and finished our PE session by having a relay race where we needed to steer our ball around 4 cones and get back to the start as quickly as possible!

More pics from Noah's Ark Zoo Farm

Just a few more photos from our fabulous day out at Noah's Ark Zoo Farm. The children saw lots of different animals and had lots of fun in the playbarns and in the parks. Definitely a day to remember!

Creative Development - Andy Goldsworthy

Here are some more picture of the lovely patterns that the children made with natural materials collected on their summer walk in the woods. The children looked at the work of the artist Andy Goldsworthy before they went on their walk so that they had a good idea about the sort of materials that they would need. When they came back they set to work creating some gorgeous patterns. They worked together well in groups too!
