K&U/Creative Development - Autumn colours/leaves

We have made the most of the lovely sunny weather this week and enjoyed walks around the school grounds to collect Autumn leaves. As our topic is 'Our wonderful world of colour' all this week we've been thinking about Autumn and the fantastic colours of this lovely season. On our walks we found leaves that were beautiful golden, yellow, red, brown, orange and green colours.

We have made leaf rubbings, paintings and put lots of the leaves on our 'Let's investigate' tables in our classrooms.

Making and eating vegetable soup and fruit salad - celebrating harvest time

We peeled and chopped potatoes, leeks, swede, parsnips and carrots.

We needed to be very careful with the peelers and knives!

It looked and smelt delicious!

We gave our soup the thumbs up and some of us wanted seconds!

We also enjoyed peeling and chopping lots of different fruits for our fruit salad - apples, strawberries, kiwis, bananas, melon, plums, nectarines.

Of course the best bit was the tasting!! - yum yum!

K&U/PSDWBCD A special visitor!

We had a very special visitor in Reception this week! This is 'Sanna' and she is Mrs Carter's little girl aahhhhh She was wonderful!! Her Nanny (Mrs Carter's mummy) brought her in.

Mrs Carter talked about how she looks after Sanna and what things she needs, what she can and cannot do and how she has grown and how she will continue to grow up - just like all the children in Reception!

We then played with the baby dolls and pretended we were their mummies and made sure we looked after them just like Mrs Carter does with Sanna!

Language, Literacy & Communication/RE - Harvest festival

We tried hard to colour our harvest baskets of fruit and vegetables in the correct colours and then chose our favourite to thank God for.

If you were wondering where all our loose change went well here it is!! We put it all on our large picture in the main hall and then Mrs Wilkins and Mrs Williams kindly added it all up! We are going to send it to a charity for children.
