Harvest

It's harvest time! Mrs Abel told us all about this important festival! We found out that at this time of year Christians go to church to thank God for all our food and for providing the sun and the rain to make the seeds grow and the fruit and vegetables. Also for our farmers who look after the crops and harvest everything when its ready.

We took a few minutes to think of foods that we were grateful for and said 'Thank you'.

Then we got to make our very own harvest soup. We all had a turn to prepare the vegetables by peeling and chopping them up and putting them in a big stew pot. We had onions, carrots, swede, parsnip and potatoes. The teachers then put the soup on to cook and at the end of the day we got to eat it with some delicious bread (photos to follow).

Some of us then wrote shopping lists in the writing area, used magnetic letters to spell out words of harvest, made soup in Peppa's kitchen, drew harvest pictures with chalk and wrote thank you prayers on the easel.
