New Friends

At Pontyclun Primary School we have adopted two rabbits and two guinea pigs from Pets at Home. The staff at Pets at Home were very generous and provided us with new cages, runs, bedding etc for our new pets. We will be naming them on Friday 01/04/11 and have already been enjoying getting to know them. They have not had the best start in life but all of the children are looking forward to providing them with a happy and busy new home. They are already settling in really well. Thankyou for all of your support also!

The children still enjoy caring for Lucky the reception hamster.
We have had lots of pet visits as we have been learning about animals, senses and the importance of caring for living things.

These Chinchillas have been living at home with Mrs Carter. They are very friendly now and will be joining us during the weeks soon.

We have been working hard on our maths this week. Counting in 2's, 5's, 10's.
Working on addition skills.

Comic Relief Activities

The children had a fun day and worked hard to raise money for Comic Relief.
Miss Harwood led the way and enjoyed a paddling pool full of tinned tomatoes.

This week in Reception we have been learning about our senses and how we use them.

Gymnastic shapes
Learning Welsh vocabulary for body and face.

We had lemon and mint scented playdough

We enjoyed food tasting games and wrote down the tastes we liked.

We used our sense of smell in the sensory 'quiet room'

We also went on a sensory walk. We recorded the things we saw and heard.

Making the most of the lovely weather

In Reception we spent Friday making homemade sweets to share with Year 2.
Together we raised over £100 and had great fun doing it.
