The next few weeks on our blog

The next few weeks we may not have as many photos on our blog as usual. This is due to the fact that we are going to be very busy practising for our Christmas concerts and making lots of lovely things for our Christmas crafts, which of course are meant to be a surprise! We will however take photos of our trip to Brecon to see Santa this coming Friday which will be fantastic. Watch this space....

RE - we coloured in Joseph's beautiful coat

We've started our christmas crafts too!

Language, Literacy & Communication

We have been doing lots of activities during the past few weeks to do with 'The Gruffalo' story. This week we have been showing Mrs Carter and Mrs Abel how well we have been listening and if we are able to write using our Jolly Phonics knowledge. We had to think about what the mouse in the story says to all the animals he meets and then write it down. Some of us did our 'magic writing', some of us were able to sound out our own sentences, and some of listened to the sentence we had chosen being spoken and wrote down the sounds that we heard.

Fun in the snow!!

This afternoon we got so excited when we saw the snow that we just had to go outside and play in it, feel it and taste it!!!!!

Then to get all warm again we went back into the hall and pretended to be snowflakes and danced to some snowflake music.

Physical Development

We had lots of fun this week supporting each other during our team games. We had to take it in turns to steer a ball around cones and back to the beginning where someone else took over! The first team to finish was the winner. Mrs Abel was on PPA and she could hear us shouting our support from where she was!!!

During our second PE session we had to listen carefully to a CD and move like the animals. Can you see us bouncing like kangaroos? hopping like frogs? slithering like snakes? rolling in the mud like pigs and running around like little kittens?

Mathematical Development - tallest & shortest

This week we have been thinking about 'tall' and 'short' and discovering what is the 'tallest' and 'shortest'. We lined ourselves up from the shortest to the tallest and went on a walk around the school to find tall and short objects.

Images of the week

We all took it in turns to go on a 'Gruffalo Hunt'. We had to listen carefully to the 6 clues and do as they instructed. The first clue was to go 'down' to the Nursery yard and look 'in' the green wooden shed. Here we found a jigsaw piece. After following all the positional clues we eventually found 6 jigsaw pieces. We then had to put the jigsaw together and realised that it was a picture of the Gruffalo

Here are the wonderful fireworks pictures we created in R1 and R2 using powder paint on damp black paper - aren't they colourful!!

It was Mrs Carter's class's turn to have fun with the parachute this week! They listened carefully and did lots of exciting games.

We watched a Powerpoint of the story of Joseph this week. We discussed what feelings we had found in the story and then made a beautiful life size Joseph with his lovely colourful coat that we are going to make into a height chart for Reception.
