Exciting activities for 'under the water'

We have been very very busy the last few weeks doing lots of lovely activities to do with our new topic 'Under the Water'. We have had messages in bottles from 'Coral the mermaid' asking us to sort out her treasure boxes and count and record the objects we have found.

Our 'Let's investigate' tables are fantastic!! We've been up to the pond to collect tadpoles and they are now in a tank so that we can observe them - when they start turning into froglets we will put them back into the pond!

We've been learning all about direction the last few weeks. This is 'Beebot' - we have to programme him to move in the right direction from one of Coral the mermaid's friends to another. This has been lots of fun to do!

We've been colouring, cutting, sticking, painting all sorts of under the water creatures. Played with sparkly playdough, completed jigsaws and created fantastic under the water scenes with colourful sequined fish!

We had to be very careful to blow the bubbles not suck up the straw!!!!

We've thought about the life cycle of a frog and had to put the pictures in the right order on a cycle. We know the words - spawn, tadpole, froglet and frog!!

We've been thinking and learning about all the creatures we find under the sea and have drawn them to go on our display walls.

Some of our fantastic drawings and paintings are going on our Reception's Reef gallery - we are so clever!!!

This week we have been finding out about the artist 'Claude Monet' and have used watercolours to paint our own waterlilies paintings - aren't they beautiful?

Our pond is wonderful - it's been lovely to spend time up there seeing what we can find and it's a great place for us to explore too!
