St Dwynwen's day

This week we celebrated 'St Dwynwen's' day (25th January). We watched a powerpoint which told us all about the young girl who became the Welsh patron saint of love. We wrote 'Dydd Santes Dwynwen Hapus' (Happy St Dwynwen's day) and made lovely heart cookies to give to someone we love.

Writing

We have been very busy with our writing this week! The children who have learned lots or all of their Jolly Phonic sounds are learning to 'sound out' what they want to write all on their own (with a little bit of help if needed). Others are encouraged to listen for beginning sounds and maybe end sounds too, some copy the sentence off paper and some still need to use over/under writing. It's very important to keep putting into practise all the hard work the children have done in learning their sounds!

Writing 'sorry' letters from Goldilocks to the three bears.

Writing recipes/instructions for making our heart cookies.

Using whiteboards to practise our letter formation.

Writing after our 'guided reading' session in the quiet room.
Enjoying practising our dot to dot and colouring skills.

Lots of busy learning opportunities inside and outside!!

Our busy times over the last few weeks

We have been very busy painting minibeasts for our 'minibeast maths' wall in both our classrooms!

Making observational drawings of our 'favourite toy'

Writing 'speech bubbles' for our toy display

Playing together in the area (construction and our toy shop)

We've been thinking about the story of Goldilocks and what happened at the 'beginning, middle and end'. Here we are colouring, cutting and sticking the pictures in the correct sequence.

We love manipulating, cutting and rolling the playdough
Using our mouse skills to create a house on the Plasma
Having great fun on the patio!

Practising our Jolly Phonics formation in the shaving foam

Making a giant toy robot out of junk materials

PE - using the apparatus

We have really enjoyed having the large apparatus out the last few weeks! We've been thinking about different ways that we can travel on the four stations set up around the hall.

We had to balance carefully on some of the equipment!

And we needed to remember to land using our 'squashy' knees!

Please mums and dads remember that the children in Mrs Abel's class need shorts and t-shirts on Wednesdays and Mrs Carter's need them on Thursdays - Thank you
