Even busier weeks to come,,,,,,

The next few weeks will be very busy for the children in Reception as they prepare for the christmas concerts and make cards and crafts for the people they love! Obviously they want to keep all of this as a lovely surprise for their mums, dads, grandparents etc!! Therefore there will not be many postings on this blog until after all these are over.
Thank you!

Children in need fun day

I have tried countless times this weekend to put photos of our 'children in need' day onto the blog and it keeps failing to upload them!!! There is obviously a fault with the system. But the profile picture did go through and as you can see it was a wonderful fun filled day that raised a lot of money towards our school's overall total of £1246. Thank you everyone for your kind generosity :)

More 'busy' ness with special visitors and children in need

We've had more special visitors to help us think about our 'People who help us' topic

This is Fireman James (Mr Chambers). He is daddy to a little girl in Year 1. He came in earlier this week to tell us about being a fireman!! We loved hearing all about his job and how he helps us and others.
Fireman James showed us how he got dressed in his special clothes when he is called to go and put out a fire or rescue people out of crashes. He has to get changed as quickly as possible so the first thing he puts on are his boots which are connected to his trousers.

Then he puts on a special mask to protect his head before he puts on his helmet.

It's his jacket next with special glow in the dark stripes.

Finally his helmet!! Doesn't he look fantastic!!!!

We asked and answered some fabulous questions and our behaviour was wonderful! Mrs Carter and Mrs Abel were very proud of us. We really enjoyed our visit from Fireman James.

This is Mrs Rees - Daniel's mummy! Can you guess what her job is??

YES - she is a nurse and she is also someone who helps us. She showed us her uniform - a navy blue dress and flat shoes and she showed us her fob watch and what was in her pockets!!

In her bag she had bandages, gloves and plasters and she put a bandage on Daniel!! She also listened to his heart to make sure it wasn't working too fast or too slow! Mrs Rees is a nurse who goes into people's homes and helps them.

Mrs Rees had special gel to wash her hands to get rid of all the germs.

This is her badge that shows she is a nurse.

Busy times!

Ice creams in the park.

Making the most of the good weather.
We are learning about people who help us.
Mr Williams came to visit us and told us all about his job.
We drew around Mr Williams so we could make a collage using
things we recycle and reuse in school.
We helped Mrs Carter with the new recycling bins.
Now we can recycle most of the things we throw away in school.
We have had some lovely weather this Autumn and have been enjoying the
outdoors as much as possible.
We have been busy learning our numbers and counting on.
We have been pretending to be firemen and learning how to use
the fireman's pole in the fort.
Our Eco green house has also been keeping us busy. We need more
plastic 2 litre bottles to finish it. Please save them and send them into school with your child.
We are continuing to enjoy spending time with our pets and learning
how to care for them properly.
Mr Roberts brought his new dog into meet us and we told him all the things
we had learnt about being good pet owners. He promised to take very good care of her
and was very impressed with how sensible we all were.

Dylan the dragon came in to see us and we counted in Welsh and
told him the colours in Welsh that we have learnt.

On Friday afternoon we make sure everybody has been
recycling and show them where to take the bags.
Remember to recycle at home!!!
We made mini-beast surveys of the creatures we found in our wildlife garden.

We made collage pictures of our favourite pets to put in
Pets Corner.
We made some posters for our local community during our Eco week.
We have been on a few walks to Maes-Y-Felin woods to look at the changes
during Autumn.
We have so much fun in the woods and are planning to
visit on the last Friday's of every month. Please remember
to send us with boots and rain coats.
We took Bailey (Mrs Carter's dog) for a walk in the woods.
He really enjoyed it and we found some lovely Autumn coloured leaves.

Some of the Yr6 children came with us to help keep us all safe.

PC Ridout came to visit us and tell us all about being
a policeman.
We learnt about the uniform and things they use.

We had a turn in the police car and had the siren and the lights on.

We made bird food and put feeders around the school.
It gets hard for the birds to find enough food in the winter.
We mixed seeds, nuts and lard together.
This gives the birds lots of energy for keeping warm in the winter.
Some vets visited us and brought some
special animals to meet us. This is Jasper the dog.
He was a very good dog.
We listened to Pumba the cats heart and could hear her purring.

They taught us how to look after our guinea pigs in the winter.
This is a white tree frog all the way from Australia.

Our feathered friend had a bad wing but was on the mend.

We have been learning to blend sounds together and write words
without help. We are getting very good!
We work together and help each other.
Teamwork!!!
We have been learning the Jolly Phonic songs and actions.
Mrs Abel showed us how to write the letter in the big book.
Mrs Murphy taught us the actions to help us remember the sounds.
Miss Button played a memory game to see if we could remember
the sounds that we had been learning in class.
We wrote cvc words for Mrs Carter.
Mrs Abel and Mrs Carter were very pleased with how many
we wrote together.
We had fun making a colourful fireworks display.
Printing patterns to display Jolly Phonic sounds.
