Creative Development - observational drawings

We have been looking at all sorts of plants this week, and discovering how they grow and what their parts are called. We made observational drawings of some inside and outside. These are some of the plants we found around the school grounds.

Mathematical Development - numbers to 100

This week we did a lot of counting up to 100. We used the 100 square to count 1 to 100 and to discover how to count in 10's. Some of us then took turns to turn over cards one at a time, say the number and then see if we could order them correctly! We did really well too!!

Language, Literacy and Communication - role play

To link in with our theme of Sunny Days we are starting to turn our 'Home Corner' into a beach hut. We are using our communication (oracy) skills to plan trips to the 'beach' and 'picnics'.

Physical Development

We made the most of the sunshine again by going down into the Nursery Yard to practise our Gross Motor Skills. We climbed, balanced and pedalled. We are getting really good at travelling around obstacles and are learning to look out for oncoming traffic!!

Physical Development - throwing and catching

We have been developing our throwing and catching skills. We practised throwing beanbags into the air making sure that we watched them all the time and that they were not going too high, then we tried to catch them in both hands. We enjoyed having games in the sunshine - lets hope that we get to go out next week too!

Knowledge and Understanding - planting seeds

Last week we had fun decorating plant pots. This week we planted seeds in our pots. First we talked about what a seed needs to grow. Then we put soil into our pots, put in a seed and watered it. We know that we must look after our seeds by watering them and making sure that they have lots of light.
