woodland/dog walk

What lovely weather we had for our woodland/dog walk! Mrs Carter brought Bailey and Bertie with her - they were so good!!

Mrs Carter showed us how she throws sticks for her dogs into the river and we watched from the bridge as Bailey and Bertie jumped straight into the river to retrieve them! They also loved shaking the water all over us afterwards too!

We ran all over the field and saw how the dogs loved to run after a ball! When they got close to us we tried to stand still and then they just ran straight past us!

We also noticed a few signs of spring - Mrs Abel showed us the lamb's tails or catkins that were hanging from the tree!

Some of us noticed a big frog in the leaves!

We had such a good time in the woods walking the dogs. For some of the children who were a little nervous about being around dogs by the time we had finished they were so much more confident and had had a fantastic experience with Bailey and Bertie. Thank you Mrs Carter for bringing them with us today!!

Money

This week we have been learning to recognise coins! Then we got to practise using coins to buy things in our vets role play! We were very good customers and loved using the till!

Shrove Tuesday & Lent

We loved making pancakes and they were so delicious!! Mrs Abel & Mrs Carter explained to us all about 'Shrove Tuesday' - we learned that it was the day before the festival of 'Lent' started, which lasts 40 days and 40 nights when Easter arrives!!

We found out that people decide to give up something for Lent to concentrate on helping other people and get ready for celebrating the festival of Easter. We decided to give up 5 minutes of our playtime and that we would be really quiet for 2 minutes to think about how we could be kind to others. Here's a photo of Mrs Abel turning the sand timer for 2 minutes!
