Jolly Phonics evening reminder

Please don't forget our 'Jolly Phonics' evening this Thursday 20th September at 6pm in the main hall. It's vital information for all parents of Reception children and will help your child's progress during this year in reading and writing.
See you there!

Other images of the week

We drew our portraits and wrote our names. These are going up on the wall as a display!

Our pets

We have lots of indoor pets in Reception and this week we have been thinking about how we need to care for them and what we need to do to look after them. We all had a cuddle off 'Raisin' the hamster and Mrs Button explained what he needs to be looked after well.

On Friday morning we all went into Mrs Carter's class and she introduced the rest of the indoor pets to us and went through the rules that are necessary to keep our pets safe and happy.

There are 3 chinchillas called Charcoal, Snowy and Mattie

Two gerbils called Zoe and Louis

'Raisin'

and 2 daegu's called Dora and Diego!!

Jolly Phonics

We've started learning our jolly Phonics this week. Here we are listening carefully to the CD and joining in with the actions!

Julia Donaldson

This week we started finding out about 'Julia Donaldson'.  We looked at her website and thought about the books we already knew about and the characters in them!

Mrs Carter read us the story of 'The smartest giant in town' and then we drew a picture and wrote about our favourite part of the story.

Here we are reading some of the books that have been brought in from home to put on our "Let's investigate' table.

Drawing and writing about our favourite part of the story.

A few pictures of this first week

We have already started being busy bees during this first week! We have begun to get to know our new routines in Reception and have settled in really well including our playtime in the big yard!!

Today we went up to the pond to have delicious birthday cakes that were given out by the two birthday children - Mrs Abel and Mrs Carter were very proud that we sat and waited so patiently. Then we went to see what we could find in the pond - the sun was beautiful and we really enjoyed it!
